Soundtrap Culture Capsule: Women’s History Month

In the spirit of celebrating the extraordinary contributions of women throughout history, the Soundtrap for Education team has compiled a series of activities that amplify a diverse array of women’s voices. We hope you leverage Soundtrap to bring these stories to life this month and beyond!
Activity Option #1:
Step 1: Pick at least two musical artists from the list provided below.
We encourage you to explore artists you might not already know. These songs/artists are just examples. You can ask your teacher to approve the song of your choice!
Step 2: Listen to the listed song and research each artist’s bio online. ✏️Take good notes!✏️
Step 3: Log into Soundtrap and record an audio response to the following questions:
- Why did you pick this artist/song?
- What’s something new you learned about the artist from their biography?
- What was the theme or key message in this song? What makes you think that?
- Pick your favorite line from the song and explain why it stood out to you.
Step 4: Add loops and sound effects from the Soundtrap Loop Library to enhance your project. You can start with some intro music!

Activity Option #2
Step 1: Pick at least two trailblazers from the following lists. We encourage you to choose people you might not already know.
- 41 Female CEOs on the Fortune 500 List
- 100 Women in Tech to Watch in 2022
- Center for American Women in Politics
Step 2: Read about and research (use podcast interviews, career profiles, video interviews, etc) the trailblazers of your choice. ✏️ Take good notes! ✏️
Step 3: Log into Soundtrap and record an audio response to the following questions:
- Why did you pick these trailblazers?
- What’s something new you learned about the leader from their biography?
- How are the women that you selected similar in their career goals and overall impact? How are they different?
- If your trailblazer is alive and well – what do you hope they achieve next? If your trailblazer has since retired or passed away – what would they want to see for the women of the future?
Activity Option #3
“A Night at the Museum”: Women’s History Month Edition!
Lesson can be accessed here along with an exemplar for guidance.
Step 4: Add loops and sound effects from the Soundtrap Loop Library to enhance your project. You can start with intro music!
<Extension Activity> Create a “theme song” in the Soundtrap studio to represent the women you selected.
