  • create a composition using rhythmic, harmonic and melodic loops.

Activity/Project
  1. Open Soundtrap and create a new project. 
  2. Add a melodic loop starting on bar one.
  3. The second loop should be primarily rhythmic (drums or kits). This should begin at the start of bar three. 
  4. The third loop adds harmony to the track, and should be chosen from the piano or guitar filter. This should also begin at bar three. 
  5. The last loop of this section should be another melodic loop starting at bar five, possibly higher in pitch to cut through the other tracks.

Peer assessment/reflection asking some of the following questions:

  • What do you like best about this composition?
  • Are there low pitch and high pitch instruments? What are their names?
  • Are the volumes of each track balanced?
  • How could this composition be improved?

 

The author of this is Meredith Allen. Prior to joining the Soundtrap team, Meredith served as an Instructional Technology Consultant at Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency in Iowa.  Preceding her consulting, Meredith taught instrumental music, K-7 technology and facilitated a district’s Virtual Reality Education Pathfinders program. She also served on their District Leadership Team, served as the district’s Technology Integrationist, and assisted with implementation of the district’s 1:1 computing initiative.Meredith has a Master’s of Science in Technology for Education and Training and participated in the 2016 Iowa cohort of the national Teacher Leadership Initiative.
